Filipino Food goes from strength to strength
Regular readers of my Facebook page will be aware that I have been championing British Filipino Chef, Rex de Guzman, who has hosted a series of Filipino Fine Dining events with pop up restaurants at Davy’s Wine Bar in Canary Wharf (London). Filipino food has always seemed to come a poor second best when compared to Thai food or Vietnamese food. This may. be because there are so few Filipino food outlets available in the West, with just a few in London,
Chef Rex is about to start his own food empire, starting modestly in Erith on the 17th August. While I might not normally consider going to Erith, I now have a reason as Chef Rex’s food is excellent. His Pork Torcino in particular is amazing, so full of flavour and a real addition to the barbecue. He cooks with a curious Japanese contraption which apparently retains the heat of the grill underneath for longer.
I will prepare a full review of his new venture in early September when I have tried out his food again. In the meantime, Good Luck Chef Rex and to Filipino Food.
